SPAIN
Spain is not one country so much as several that share a passport. The language, the food and the hours people eat change every few hundred miles, and every region will tell you theirs is the real one. From flamenco in Seville to the awe-inspiring architecture of Antoni Gaudí in Barcelona, the country has never been short of people willing to build something strange. The Camino de Santiago is a walking route people have followed for over a thousand years, and thousands still finish it every year. The Costa del Sol is the opposite kind of holiday entirely. Spain’s culinary scene, from tapas in Madrid to paella in Valencia, is a symphony of flavors. The festivals are not small. One town throws tomatoes at itself, another builds enormous sculptures and then burns them. Dinner starts at ten at night and nobody thinks that is strange. ¡Viva España!.
