How your data is handled

Last updated August 2026

This site is a personal travel blog run by Jay Lynn. It has no accounts to sign up for, sells nothing directly, and takes no payments. What follows is everything it does with information about you, in plain words.

What you give us on purpose

Two forms on this site collect information, and both are optional.

Both forms are handled by Formspree, which passes what you write on by email. Formspree stores submissions on its own servers under its own privacy policy.

What is collected automatically

Google Analytics records which pages are read, roughly where in the world readers are, and which site sent them here. It sets a cookie to do this, so it only runs if you press Accept on the cookie bar. Decline, or ignore the bar, and no Google Analytics script is ever loaded. Where it does run, addresses are shortened before being stored.

Cloudflare serves this site and keeps standard server records, including addresses and which pages were requested, for security and to keep the site online. This happens for every website on the internet and is not something a visitor can opt out of while still loading pages.

Google Fonts. The typefaces used here are loaded from Google's servers, which means Google sees the address of anyone loading a page. No cookie is set by this.

Cookies

The only cookies this site sets are Google Analytics ones, and only after you accept them. There are no advertising cookies and nothing that follows you to other websites.

You can change your mind at any time.

Affiliate links

Some posts link to products through the Amazon Associates programme. If you buy something after following one, a small commission may be earned at no extra cost to you. Posts containing these links say so at the top, and the links themselves are marked so search engines can identify them. Clicking one takes you to Amazon, who then handle your data under their own terms.

Who else sees your information

Nothing is ever sold, and nothing is passed to anyone for advertising. The only companies involved are the ones needed to run the site:

How long anything is kept

Messages sent through the contact form are kept as email for as long as they are useful to answer. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed. Analytics data is held by Google under its own retention settings.

Your choices

To ask for any of these, use the contact form.

Children

This site is written for adults and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this page

If the site starts doing something new with data, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
