Krakow

A photograph of Krakow

Krakow, Poland

Krakow, Poland is a surprisingly busy city in eastern Europe. Its immaculate historic streets and preserved architecture transport you to another era of authentic Old Europe. As you wander through the cobbled lanes of Old Town Krakow, there is long history, from grand Wawel Castle and cathedral to the poignant history of Kazimierz, the Jewish Quarter. Rynek Glowny Central Square is brimming with street musicians and seasonal festivities. It’s considered to be one of the largest and most authentic remaining medieval town squares in Europe (Charles Square in Prague is two times larger) and dates back to the 13th century. If you can attend a mass in Wawel Cathedral, it is an experience with a fantastic choir and exceptional acoustics. You don’t have to be religious to marvel at this piece of architecture which holds great historical and cultural significance in Poland.

Krakow is a pleasant surprise to many who visit. It is also incredibly affordable compared to other places in Europe and has some great boutiques and shopping. Krakow most definitely goes at the top of our worth visiting list for smaller cities in Europe.
