CENTRAL AMERICA

Central America, a stretch of countries strung between two oceans, made up of Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Some people consider Mexico as a part of Central America, though we are deciding to categorize it in North America. Central America maintains many diverse cultures, traditions and landscapes. Although Spanish is the most-spoken language in Central America(though Belize is English official), there are many indigenous languages still spoken and great effort in these smaller remote communities to pass down the language so it doesn’t become extinct.

Seven countries in a strip of land narrow enough that in Panama you can see the Pacific and the Caribbean on the same day. Tikal, in the Guatemalan rainforest, has temples tall enough to stand above the canopy. Each country, with unique cultural traditions, is as varied as the land itself. Explore the rainforests of Costa Rica, learn about Mayan history and local crafts in Guatemala, or sun bathe on the coast of Belize. Whichever way you go, Central America awaits your discovery.
