Below are Travel Essentials That I Love and are must-haves on my travel checklist!
Traveling can be a lot of fun, but it can also be stressful and uncomfortable. That’s why it’s important to pack the right travel essentials. Here are some of my favorite travel essentials that also have the best reviews:
Foot hammock: A foot hammock can help to reduce swelling and improve circulation in your feet during long flights or train rides. This item was indispensable on my recent long distance flights to Japan and Portugal. Not only did it relieve lower back pressure by raising my legs, it also helped me sleep better and relax on the long train rides across both countries. Originally I bought a cheaper version, though I’m small and have size 6 feet, and it still felt cramped. So I recommend most people opt for a slight larger one like this foot hammock.
Eye mask: An eye mask can help to block out light and create a dark environment whether you’re on a plane or in a hotel room with sheer curtains, which is ideal for sleeping on airplanes, trains or long haul flights when you may be going to a new timezone. Most eye masks press on your eyes and are uncomfortable. I love this style one because you can open your eyes underneath it and it doesn’t place pressure on your eyes. It also allows you to adjust the placement of the eye covers so it can fit different faces. You’ll thank me later!
Facial Oil: A good facial oil can keep your skin hydrated and protected from the elements, especially while traveling. The one from Herbivore is compact and rich with nutrients. Plus it has a delicate herbal fragrance that is very soothing.
Facial mist: There is nothing better than a refreshing facial mist at the end of a long travel day. This facial mist can help to keep your skin hydrated and refreshed, especially in the air (which is super dehydrating for your skin) and dry climates. Going to the desert? Then this is a MUST. Use before the facial oil for extra hydration and absorption.
Propolis Throat Spray:There’s a reason I went four years without getting sick. One, I take supplements. I also swear by propolis. This one is really well sourced and from a female company called Beekeeper’s Naturals. I can vouch for it. My only wish would be the packaging is not plastic. Though it’s one of the few plastic packaged items I still buy, and I’ll occasionally re-use the bottle for something else.
Noise-Canceling Headphones: Noise-canceling headphones can help to block out noise from airplanes, trains, and other noisy environments. If you end up with a crying baby next to you on the flight or someone talking too loudly you’ll be sooo glad you have these. We’ve all been there!
Travel plug converter: A travel plug converter allows you to use your electronic devices in countries with different electrical outlets. I prefer having a multi country one like this. It’s easier to pack and store when I’m not traveling!
Infinity pillow:I LOVE this round scarf-like pillow from Huzi and wouldn’t have survived my trip to Japan without it! A little bulky, though worth it. I even used it at some of the more minimalist temples and ryokans we stayed at. An infinity pillow can be used to support your neck, head, and back while traveling. It can also be used as a pillow, blanket, or eye mask. If you get sacral or lower back pain when traveling, then this is also a great solution to easing things! I also have the Grey version of this Infinity Travel Pillow to match my Bamboo blanket.
Mobile battery pack: A total lifesaver on the road! This mobile battery pack is pretty strong and can provide extra power for your electronic devices when you’re on the go plus supports different USB compatibilities.
Bamboo Travel Blanket: Another MUST HAVE, this lightweight blanket can roll up into a compact case and dries quickly if you wash or get wet. I sometimes even use it as a neck roll in the case. It’s been great at places that don’t have warm enough blankets. Can’t recommend enough! I have this Cloudz brand one in grey.
Kindle Reader: It took me a longtime to warm up to reading on a device. Though now this is something I cannot travel without. Let’s face it books can be heavy and bulky to carry. Pick a few faves, load em up on you kindle paper white and enjoy! The device makes it very easy on the eyes to read. And I am someone who notices eye strain sooner than most!
Flexible Phone or Device Holder for Airplane and More: What did I do before this accessory? Seriously! My favorite travel accessory to date next to the foot hammock is this flexible phone holder. Because lets face it we all like to watch things on our giant smart phones and holding you phone or craning your neck during a flight gets uncomfortable. I have found many ways on different airlines and aircraft now to use this holder. I did try another brand and it was thicker foam and I didn’t like as much as this one from Airglo. So you’re welcome because I just saved you hours of reading reviews and buying/returning the wrong one. This one is the best I’ve tried so far (for iPhone).
Passport Holder: There are lots on the market though I recommend looking for these key features on the one you choose: RFID blocking, AirTag holder, bright color so you can always find it, no zipper = hassle free design.
Lip & Hand Balm:I love this eco-friendly lip balm and often use it on the back of my hands and cuticles as well. It’s a sustainable small family-owned business which I also appreciate supporting.
I hope this list of travel essentials helps you to have a more comfortable and enjoyable travel experience!
